  'CATS BEAT UP THE 'DOGS, PORTLAND LOSES 14-5!
Visting team has won all five meetings this season

(Portland, ME) - One night after spoiling Portland's home opener, the New Britain Rock Cats scored 14 runs on 17 hits to beat the Sea Dogs, 14-5 on Saturday afternoon at Hadlock Field.

Jay Rainville (1-1) tossed five strong innings for the Rock Cats to earn the win. Portland beat Rainville last week at New Britain Stadium where the righty gave up four runs and five walks.

Portland starter Kris Johnson (0-1) surrendered seven runs on nine hits in 3 and 1/3 innings to take the loss.

Dustin Martin and Trevor Plouffe each had 4 hits for the visitors. Plouffe blasted a 3-run homer in the sixth inning and finished with 4 RBI. Martin smacked a 2-run double in the fourth and drove in three. Matt Moses, Brock Peterson and David Winfree (2-run homer) each had 2 RBI.

Bubba Bell led Portland's offense, going 3-for-5 with a triple. Zach Daeges and Iggy Suarez had two hits apiece - Aaron Bates produced a run-scoring single in the seventh.

Portland's pitching staff had allowed only 12 runs entering Saturday's game, ranking them first in the Eastern League in team ERA. Kyle Jackson, Hunter Jones, Mike James and Miguel Asencio each allowed at least one run.

David Shinskie pitched the last three innings to earn his first Double-A save.

Notes...Bubba Bell and Zach Daeges each tripled...Sean Danielson returned to the lineup and went 1-for-5...Portland's bullpen had allowed three earned runs entering Saturday's game.
