The new guys shine in the victory

(Binghamton, NY) - One night after playing 17 innings, the Sea Dogs rallied back from a 4-3 deficit to beat the Binghamton Mets, 5-4 on Thursday night at NYSEG Stadium.

Iggy Suarez had the game-winning hit, delivering a two-out, run-scoring single in the top of the 9th inning. Tony Granadillo started the rally, ending an 0-for-31 slump with a one-out single off losing pitcher Joe Hietpas (1-2).

Kyle Fernandes, who joined the Sea Dogs earlier in the day from Lowell, picked up the win. Fernandes fired two scoreless frames and pitched a perfect ninth. Sandy Madera also joined the Sea Dogs earlier in the day, and blasted a two-out, 2-run homer in the first inning.

Jeff Corsaletti scored the winning run on Wednesday night and put together a great performance on Thursday. Corsaletti tied the game at 3 with a solo homer in the sixth inning. The Portland left fielder also hit a game-tying RBI double in the eighth.

The B-Mets received their eight hits and 4 RBI from four players (Mike Carp, Jose Coronado, Fernando Martinez and Josh Peterson).

Kris Johnson lasted only four and 1/3 innings, yielding five hits and three runs. Johnson left the game in the fifth inning and was relieved by Chad Rhoades, who allowed only one run in 2.2 innings.

Eric Brown worked six strong innings for Binghamton, allowing three runs on five hits.
