SEA DOGS WELCOME A RETURN HOME, LOSE IN TRENTON 3-2!
Portland lost all six games of their roadtrip - drop out of first place

(Trenton, NJ) - P.J. Pilittere's RBI single with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning gave the Trenton Thunder a 3-2, walk-off victory over the Portland Sea Dogs on Sunday afternoon in front of 5,621 at Waterfront Park.

Pilittere's hit came on a 0-2 pitch from Hunter Jones and scored Ramiro Pena, who led off the frame with a single.

The Sea Dogs finished 0-6 on their roadtrip and fell into second place for just the second time in 32 days to start the season.

Zach Kroenke (2-0) worked around a lead-off single by Zach Daeges in top of the ninth inning to earn the win for Trenton. Jones worked one and 2/3 innings on three hits to take the loss for the Sea Dogs.

Portland jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the second inning on a sacrifice fly by Aaron Bates. In the fourth inning, Andrew Pinckney singled off Chase Wright to score Mark Wagner. Wagner went 2-for-4 and scored both of Portland's runs. Daeges went 2-for-2 with two walks and a stolen base.

Dustin Richardson was outstanding for Portland, hurling six strong frames on five hits, one run and six strikeouts. The lone blemish came in the fifth inning when Chris Malec led off with a solo homer. Chase Wright was equally effective for the Thunder. The lefty yielded two runs on five hits over six innings.

Trenton tied the game off Beau Vaughan in the seventh inning. Cody Ehlers led off with a walk and later scored on a sacrifice fly by Kevin Russo.

The Sea Dogs had two hits after the fourth inning and went 1-for-11 with runners-in-scoring position. The two teams will meet in a 3-game series next week at Waterfront Park. Portland has suffered their longest losing streak since a 10-game skid on July 29-August 8, 2006.

On Monday night, the Sea Dogs return home to entertain the New Hampshire Fisher Cats in game one of a 4-game set. RHP Justin Masterson will face LHP Brett Cecil.

Notes…Dustin Richardson went 29 innings without allowing a home run until Malec’s blast to lead-off the bottom of the 5th inning...The homer was just the eighth allowed by Richardson in his career (193.1 IP)…Zach Daeges reached base safely in six of eight plate appearances in two games…Portland’s bullpen allowed six runs in the last two games.
